How to prepare for opening your garden to the public and the National Gardens Scheme
The good, the bad and the ugly!
Marion and Professor Clive had opened the garden of their cottage in Newnham to the public as part of open garden weekends, all proceeds to charity. They had enjoyed and learned from this, and wanted to do it all again for themselves at their farmhouse garden in Herefordshire. How could they have known what surprises and new experiences awaited them! Clive takes you through the preparation, the joy of the first opening, a little flavour of the range of questions asked by the general public, and how best to prepare yourself and your garden for the onslaught of torrential rain, kids throwing ornaments and visitors with 4x4s getting stuck in hedges. Tin hats to the ready!l
